Week 14 Day 1

There is not going to be any more LdLs for the rest of the year, so the blog will have no teaching pictures. But there will be a lot of lecture!

1. Today, Mr. Rick did not come late. The class was still noisy when Mr. Rick came in. So here is Mr. Rick...

Because last week there was no class for day 2 due to a "holiday", so this time we have to catch up with all the lecture. And thankfully Mr. Rick said that there will be no teaching for the rest of the year, so this is a very good time to catch up.

Mr. Rick is going to teach these two topics: "Napoleon, the first European?" and "Why was Napoleon defeated? Part 1" So here is Mr. Rick teaching...

2. We're going to talk about the first topic first. There are 3 poisons of government and business. They are Nepotism, Corruption and Collusion.

Nepotism is hiring friends and family to lead a government or business instead of hiring people that are qualified to be in that position. Friends and Family might not qualify in this position.

Then there is Corruption. There are two types of corruption. The first one is Bribing, giving money or favors to somebody to get a special favor. It is like a student bribing a teacher money to get the student good grades. The second one is Extortion, where the leader forces you to pay money for a favor. So it is like a teacher lowering the student's grade, and the teacher forces the student to pay them money to get the student their grades higher.

The last one is Collusion, where people secretly plot something to destroy the government or business.

And there must be something you should know when leading a government or a business, people would work harder for themselves rather than for the leader.

Napoleon could not manage a very big territory with just a small army and one country. He is going to need help. So he bribes people and made his family to help him. And because his family was part of this, this became a family business for him. Napoleon is very caring to his family.

Napoleon invented the first economic market. France will have a big territory, have many people and a strong currency.

Mr. Rick told us to Google The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Here are the results...

The Japanese were influenced by how Napoleon ruled! This is how this was almost successful!

But the problem is, Britain was the Enemy of France. Napoleon oppressed people who tried to trade with Britain, and this made rebellions.

Now for the Second topic! There were three reasons that Napoleon was defeated. Mr. Rick made us watch two videos. This is the first video...

And the second video. This second video has lots of information, so Mr. Rick wants us to note down things from the video.

What the blog author got from the video is that Napoleon was born in Corsica and he was born on a sofa and he was a genius. (So people who were born on a sofa is a genius?) We are going to continue the rest tomorrow.

3. What we can improve is to listen to the lesson more. Mr. Rick can talk about important things that will come out in the test. We even have to take notes on the informational videos!
