Week 13 (Tuesday)

Because there is no fifth member in our class, everyone is free of LdLs. Next class (Wednesday) is a holiday, so our LdLs will be next week.

1. Mr. Rick did not come too late, a few other students came in the class later than Mr. Rick.

Mr. Rick noticed that we don't have a fifth member in our class, so he will give us tech time in the end of class! This is called "catch-up week" so we can catch up on stuff that we missed.

Okay. Now, Mr. Rick is going to teach about "Did Napoleon Betray the Revolution? Part 2". Here is Mr. Rick teaching...

2. During the revolution, there were many good things in the country that were destroyed, and Napoleon needs to fix all this. First, he needed a way to rule. There are three types of leadership. Autocratic leadership, Democratic leadership and Laissez-faire.

In Autocratic leadership, it is the leadership from the top. So, the leader controls everything, bossing around. It is like, "Me boss, you minion. I say, you do." This leadership is used in the military. If it were not like this, the army would lose the war! The person in the top must be obeyed with no question. You must be more afraid of your leader punishing you than anything else that will come your way. The leader does not want to hear anything from the people, he only does his way. The bad thing about the leadership is that if no one is going to help you, it will fall in long terms.

In Democratic leadership, it is leadership from the middle. The leader is boss, but he also works in a team. So there are people giving some advice, and the leader listens and considers it. They still listen to the people even though the leader is the boss.

The last one is Laissez-Faire. It is a new word, so Mr. Rick asks us to google it.
Here are the results from the Wikipedia...

This leadership is from the bottom. The leader doesn't even sound like a leader, because he is a part of the team, working together. It sounds like there is no leader! This way of leadership is really hard, but it will work in long terms, making it sound that it will last forever.

The first task in any leader is to duplicate himself/herself in others. It means, the leader needs to make new leaders. Napoleon chooses the Autocratic leadership, because he is not going to be in power for long. He just needs to fix some things.

Napoleon changed a lot of things, and created the France Civil Code, which is the Code Napoleon.

3. Because there are no teachers, we all have some tech time! Hooray!

Unfortunately, it doesn't last long, so we have to go out of class. Next week will be the start of LdL.

4. What we can improve is to listen to the teacher well. Instead of not listening to the teacher during class and studying at home instead, you will miss valuable information that the teacher taught out of the book. And when you have the test on it, you will be glad that you know the answers because you listened to the teacher!
