Week 5 Day 2

Today is a different day. Today is Team Presentations, where we need to present the PowerPoints! Hope this works out...

1. Mr. Rick came in very late today, about 30 minutes late. And we shout "You're Late!" at Mr. Rick.

So, we only have time for one group that have to present. Mr. Rick handed out this sheet of paper that we have to fill in.

This is the one Mr. Rick is going to mark. There is another one given to other groups to mark the team that is going to present.

And then, tension begins. A member of each team needs to close their eyes and pick out a piece of paper  from the tissue box that will determine which group will present first. Unfortunately, our group is the first one! So we have our presentation first.

There are no pictures of us doing the presentation, because the person in charge of writing the blog and taking pictures are also presenting.

We don't know our scores yet, so we will wait patiently. There is a way to calculate our bonus, and it is through the amount of time needed for the presenter to present. There is a person to be the time keeper. If the time is within 2 minutes and 50 seconds and 3 minutes and 10 seconds, they get bonus 10 marks. If they go over or below, no bonus points. But if they are below 2 minutes or over 4 minutes, they get -10 points. Nobody got a bonus 10 marks in our group though. :(

In the end, the groups have to submit the scores to Mr. Rick.

And then, it is the end of the class! That's all! I hope Mr. Rick is not late again, so that we have more groups that present and the team presentations will finish faster.

2. There are lots of improvements we can do. We can also apply this to our LdL, which is our teaching.

  • We need eye contact. So, instead of reading it from the screen, we can only glance at the screen then explain what is on the screen. This will engage the audience.
  • Make our voices louder, so people can hear!
  • We need to explain, not just read everything off the screen.
  • We can practice our timing. Like, before the teaching, we need to practice in front of a mirror. Then we also can time the teaching. If it is less or more than the required time, make it better.
  • We also need to communicate with each other! Very important when trying to make a group project.
I hope we can do better next time!

* Special 20th February update!

After looking at other team's blogs, there was this picture of us presenting, that we didn't get time to take pictures of. It was created by the Echo team, the Peace team. And here you go!

This Picture has been edited by the Puncake blog. (Only flipped horizontally) The original picture by the Peace team is in the link below, the original source and creator.

  1. Hi Bea! cough cough.. I was about 8 minutes late by the world clock that we use, the clocks in the room may be off a bit :) The delay in starting the first Ldl team (yours) was the 25-30 minutes we took in prepping the class: we had to organize the teams, fill out the team score sheets, do the drawing on the speaking order of the teams and finally.. the training for teams to asses the speakers. Add 15 minutes for your team to present (3 minutes each times 5 people) then another 5-8 minutes on "coaching the class" on the assessment... it just about ate up our 45 minutes. :) Had i been 30 minutes late,, your team would not have had time to do the ldl, much less all of the prep work that we had to do prior to that. :) Otherwise, you guys did a great job!!
