Week 5 Day 1

Today, there is no teaching, because there isn't enough time. But the class went on as normal. Tomorrow is the Team Presentations, so we have a lot to do!

1. Today is Week 5. And today, we will talk about the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which came from America. This influenced the French, and it led to the Revolution. So let's start!

Apparently, we did not do the regular checking properly, so we only did a shoe check. One got away with not bringing a laptop in Class. Luckily it was found out.

Now, our topic today is "Did the Revolution Make France a Fairer Country?" And this is Mr. Rick teaching. Well, Mr. Rick, I only need to take a photo...

Uh... Never mind. Here is a better picture...

Most of the PowerPoint is about the Declaration of the Rights of Man. This is because as it was said in the beginning, this influenced the French. Inside of this, there are articles that talk about the Rights of Man, and how the country should be governed. This is the group taking notes...

Mr. Rick told us to do some research on other countries, like Myanmar. At first we don't know, so we just sit there. Then Mr. Rick says, "Don't just sit there, do some research!"

And so we did. Mr. Rick explained the meaning of every article in the Declaration of the Rights of Man. This is Mr. Rick speaking...

2. Declaration of the Rights of Man is about the new way of governing.

Everyone is equal. Whether you are a beggar or a King, you are equal. You have the same education, and are all humans.

You have rights when you are born. These rights cannot be taken away by anyone. If they take it away, it is a crime.

You have power to fight back someone who oppresses you.

The nation also has authority.

Liberty is the freedom to do anything, as long as it doesn't harm someone else or the society.

Law is a set of rules that we need to follow in the society. Law is to defend the rules. The rules that are applied are the result of who agrees. By signing a contract, they can call it law. Nobody can add or subtract anything unless others agree to it. If something is not in the law, you cannot be punished for it.

You will be innocent until you are proved guilty. The burden of proof lies on the accuser. This is because people are accused of things they did not do.

You have the freedom of speech, you can express anything, even anything religious, unless it offends others.

Military and Police are needed to protect the country. This also requires money, that is why people pay tax.

The Public has right to own property. If the Government needs to take it away, they need to pay for that, with a fair amount of money.

If the laws aren't defined, nobody agrees, and there is no separation of power, it is not the government. It is Monarchy.

It is like the president is your employee. You choose the president!
So, the revolution did make France a fairer country.

3. Unexpectedly, there was no teaching today. The lecture is too long for time to teach. Mr. Rick says that we need to have our Team Presentations tomorrow. So, we start working on it, discussing it for 5 minutes. We decided to put it in Google Drive, so everyone can help edit it. This is how it looks like...

And finally, it is the end of class. So now, we are going to finish this at home. Hope the PowerPoint is good!

 4. What we can improve better is to be more serious when working. We need to be serious when we listen to the teacher. We also need to work together to help get the job done.
